Eligibility Requirements to receive Funeral and Burial assistance
Note: Helping Hand Asset Relief Program is a 501 (c) (3) non profit organization. Funerals and assorted cost continue to rise. Often, surviving family members struggle to meet those cost. HHARP exist to provide some level of aid to qualified survivors who have lost an uninsured family member. Helping Hand Asset Relief Program currently provides Funeral and Burial assistance to the Memphis Metro and Shelby County community at this time. As we continue to grow, we will maintain our commitment to serving families with the highest standard of professionalism and service.
HHARP is dedicated to helping families in the time of bereavement from start to finish, working closely with families and individuals to guide them through the funeral and burial planning process and following up with families as they go though the grieving process of losing a loved one. We are a group of passionate individuals who have a strong desire to serve the needs of our community. We work hard to ensure families receive information about life insurance, advance directives and pre-plan needs that will educate and inform the community about the importance of having Life Insurance. Application and waiver can be completed online, or scanned and emailed to our Team.
- Complete online application, or scan and email to our Team.
- Approval decision 5 to 7 business days to process claims.
- Funeral or Burial assistance will be paid directly to the Funeral Home or Cemetery, if approved. Note: (Helping Hand Asset Relief Program will require documents in order to verify proof of relationship including copy of funeral contract, Obituary and photo ID). According to HHARP guidelines about relationships: To be defined as: Legally married-spouse, mother, father, sister, brother, grandmother and grandfather to be considered for assistance. HHARP does not recognize common law husband or wives relationships as a factor for determining eligibility to receive assistance.
- Please complete application online, or scan all required documents and email to: hharpmemphis@gmail.com
- Documents need to be submitted to HHARP or the Funeral Director prior to finalizing the funeral or burial arrangements (Failure to submit in a timely manner will cause your claim to be subject to Denial).
- Funds are paid when resources are available.
- HHARP will contact the responsible party via phone or email when approved, funds will be disbursed via check, made payable to Funeral Home or Cemetery and delivered to the Funeral Director by a HHARP Representative or US mail.

HHARP disclaimer funds are only paid when resources are
available and will not cover the entire cost of the funeral expense. HHARP is not intended as a substitute for life insurance.
